LOUISE BOURGEOIS: MAMAN (above) is a massive outdoor metal sculpture of a spider.
The artist says it is an ode to her mum who "like a spider when their web is broken, they don't get angry, they quietly rebuild" and they do this over and over and over throughout your childhood.
Is this the mother you had?
My next project I am about to embark on is about this all encompassing word MOTHER.
Tomorrow it is Mother's Day here in the UK.
In collaboration with Gillian McFarland on this project, together we want to celebrate this word and offer it up to others to join in with us. Having been blessed with eight children between us with the eldest having reached three decades and youngest in their first decade this mothering has overwhelmed the majority of our own decades.
We are only in the debating stages of what our joint creations will produce, but like Bourgeois' sculpture it will take up space and be a host to many off shoots.
IT'S fRIDAY!!! 15th January 2020
I woke early this morning, whilst making a cup of tea I saw the smile on the side of the box. I'd just been reading the booklet: 'THE INTERVENTIONISTS Users manual for the creative disruption of everyday life'. So excited to read about others who I feel think along the same lines as myself. That is, observing the awful and making the best sense of it you can. http://www.gregorysholette.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Interventionists_03_14_041.pdf
So today I stick my tongue out at the drizzle and made a smile. Now how do I turn it into PDF for you to print off?

International Womans Day March 2019 participatory event
One of the passer by participants who was delighted to get involved with contributing towards creating this frida Kahlo portrait by painting a pixel with nail polish, apparently Frida used to paint with nail polish also from time to time.
The large campus advert below invited people to bring along their favourite nail polish or use one of mine. Frida is an icon to many, this Frida f ollower showed me Frida tattooed on her neck. The random nature of these events means you never know who you will meet by chance, Frida brought us together for this brief moment of a snapshot, it's interesting that our personal names were not exchanged, yet we felt connected enough to take snapshots to be uploaded to our instagram accounts, today's signature.
